I like the relief I get from Imitrex, but not the way I feel when I do take it(injections). It makes me all jittery inside and just feeling weird.

I don't think they've finished "testing" the effects of Imitrex and long term usage. They cover their rears by putting the 3 pr wk. There are a lot of people on this site who have posted that they take it long term with no ill effects. There have been reported heart trouble from it, but I don't have the actual numbers, so that may have been a fluke also.

I don't know about you, but in the middle of a Cluster attack (10+scale) I really don't CARE what the directions say. If I think I can get relief, it's worth the risk. If it kills me, at least it'll kill the HA too.

If you're worried tho, you might try DHE-45. If you're episodic, it might break the cluster (it has mine at times when I was episodic). It raises your blood pressure, but the only side effects I've ever had was an upset stomach (BE SURE TO TAKE IT WITH REGLAN OR PHENERGAN or you'll be throwing up within minutes). It comes in injections or tablets (tabs never worked for me) or you can get it in a nasal spay.

But as "everyone" has stated, everyone is different and you have to find what works best for you. Good luck. Hugs BD
