I, like you, didn't have CH when I was pregnant. BUT, the three days before I went into labor, they kicked in. I had my daughter at 3 AM and had a cluster by four. I was determined to breastfeed. I started using ANY holistic method I could to alleviate the pain. Ice on my neck and heat over my eye, then switch it. Nasal sprays, really hot showers, Tiger Balm on my face and a HUGE addiction to Lipton Iced Tea. I don't take meds for my CH. I'm just the rare person who can't deal with all the side effects.
I used to lay my daughter next to me in bed, breastfeed her and cover my head and neck with ice and heating pads. You have my DEEPEST sympathy. It was a very tough time for me and I'm convinced the post-pregnancy hormones made the CH worse. One trick I learned was to pump milk over two days, store it and then take a night of cafergot...just to catch up on some sleep.
Best of luck...you have a rough road ahead. But we Mom's can survive just about anything!!! ;)
