I am as flabbergasted as you are. I am sure Ueli will put us right within half an hour, but if not, if you find the time try and download a bit of German phrasing; we might get at the gist of it.
My Science dictionaire says about ions:
ion - an atom or group of atoms that has either lost one or more electrons, making it positively charged (a cation) or gained one or more electrons, making it negatively charged (an anion).
I could not have put it better myself.
So you can have ions of all sorts of elements, not just oxygen.
