I haven't taken narcotics for years because they didn't help my pain much but has your husband tried some of the other treatments described by the people here. There are some treatments to break the cycles, (don't know about chronic thank God), and treatments to treat each headache. Imotrex, oxygen, calan, lidocaine, etc. Many doctors don't take our silly little headaches seriously for the same reason I hate and despise them...There is no "cause" and no "cure". There is nothing to see or treat. But you may be lucky enough to find a doctor who understands just how terrible CH pain is. Good luck in your search, there's lots of info here on this site, maybe you can educate one doctor.
