My husband started getting these things when he was 17, after countless trips to the ER and regular doctor visits (over a 5 year time frame), I finally got one of his doctor's talked into a referal to a doctor at the Mayo clinic, that's when he was finally diagnosed. The trip to Mayo was a year ago and we're still working on these things. The doctor there wanted him to do the oxygen and lithium thing, but the oxygen gets pretty expensive, because our insurance won't cover it. This makes absolutely no sense to me since it actually helps, and they'll pay for all sorts of medications that don't. The lithium my husband refuses to try, he won't give me a real good explanation as to why, but he is the one that lives with these, and he's the one that has to live with taking the meds, and all the side effects that go with them. Believe me there have been times when these things have caused him so much pain that he actually asked me to shoot him and just get rid of these things. My big joke to him is that, I am not a good shot and would probably hit him somewhere else then he would have more then just the headaches to worry about. Hang in there, we're still hoping too that we are going to find just the right med or combination that will let us lead a semi normal life. Our goal is that we can actually get through one month without him having a ch, but right now my goal is that we get through a week, or maybe just tonight. I hope that this makes sense to you , because after three nights of no sleep because of these, I'm not making a lot of sense.
