I got real empathy for you. I live alone with my wife for the most part and that is bad enough to make her go through it. But when our son is home for the holidays I do anything I can to prevent him from having to see me in the middle of one.
Having your family suffer through them is worse than the pain itself. I would put up with any amount of pain to spare my family, but unfortunately it just doesn't work that way.
