My husband goes to a doctor here in Indiana named Blankenship. We are VERY pleased with him. my husband went to him after SEVERAL different doctors "had no idea what to do". We had just got married and I was determined to help him find some relief. His exwife thought he was just "putting on" and I have to say there were times I questioned it to...UNTIL I started researching. It wasn't until then I realized how terrible this really was. Almost every story I read sounded JUST LIKE my hubby. I even read a book that narrowed it down to eye color, hair color and everything. I couldn't believe what I was reading...With this in mind I urged him to go to a neurologist. He went and was given a round of steroids..which kept his headaches away for 2 years!! He recently started having them again, so he called the doctor and they couldn't get him in for antoher month. They called in a prescription for him for the imitrex shots (which provide him instant relief) BUT they cost $40.00 a shot!!
The next day my husband had another headache at work and was "attempting" to drive home "because he didn't want any of his coworkers to see him crying" anyways, he got in a wreck and messed our car up pretty bad. I called the doctor and informed them we couldn't wait any longer and that my husband was missing work and when he misses work...we have no money to buy the shots. Luckily I knew the nurse at the office and she gave me ALOT of samples of Imitrex (shots, nasals, and pills) she also gave me a 25 day sample of covera (which is supposed to keep the headaches from coming at all) he takes the covera everyday. They also told me NOT to let him run out of the covera and if we couldn't afford it to let her know and she would give us "all the samples we needed". Since he had another round of the steroids and has been taking the Covera daily...he hasn't had another headache (that was 3 weeks ago) SO I guess what I am trying to say is there ARE doctors out there that ARE willing to help. They are just sometimes few and far between. If you can't afford the prescriptions ask about samples...afterall that's what they are there for.. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!!
By the way...When my husband isn't having headaches...He LOVES racing..Check out the site I designed for him
