I just yesterday returned from the Diamond Headache
Clinic. It was my third visit and each time they have
helped me considerably. I was getting to the point
of 2-3 migraines/week and still trying to work full
time. I received DHE via IV while there plus other
drugs to try and decrease the severity and number
of migraines. The DHE almost always breaks my headache
cycle. I went pain free for 2-3 months after each visit
after suffering for 14 yrs. Each time I go back they either
try some new maintenance drugs or some non-drug therapies.
It is expensive...I am fortunate enough to have good insurance
so if I can afford the flight (I shopped on Priceline.com and paid
$60 from Iowa) plus the cab fare from the airport to the hospital
($30 each way) I feel it is definitely worth it. This trip
I am trying a MAO Inhibitor drug to try and prevent the migraines plus self-
injections of DHE. I"m hopeful...I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
