I lost a dear family member to cancer two years ago, and it can be devastating. But, remember that, as you alluded to, if he were still with us, he would be in alot of pain. When it gets that far along, into the bones, I understand that it is no longer bearable without heavy doses of meds that keep you in an almost constant state of unconsiousness. Quality of life is what to think of here, and hope that your friend is in much better place. I know it doesn't make it any easier to swallow, but hopefully puts your mind at ease for a bit. Take Care!
