Nicotine ia a stimulant, leading to an increase in heart rate and blood pressure and the narrowing of blood vessels. In addition, the nicotine in tobacco smoke reachs the brain within 10 seconds of inhaling it. If the amount of nicotine contained in a single cigarette were injected directly into the bloodstream rather than being absorbed through the lungs, it would paralze the centers in the brain controlling breathing and cause death.
Just some interesting reading for ya Donald, I smoked for 32 yrs. filterless camels and just quit about 8 months ago. I went with the patch, it was fairly easy. good luck. PFDAN dave s
