"Pain level 10
Major pain, screaming, head banging, ER trip. Depressed. Suicidal"

Way I figure it, a 10+, 11, more than a 10 etc requires that you actually have the gun loaded, point it at your head and pull the trigger. Official autopsy photographs are required to substantiate a 10+

By definition, 10 is as bad as it can get. We don't improve communication amongst ourselves by extending the scale.

On the other hand, what I thought was a 10 back in 1990 probably rates about a 6 on my current personal scale. As I got more experience with the Demon, and as he saw me survive the attacks, he upped his stake (double meaning intentional).

I believe Kip intended the scale to aid us in talking to each other - not as an absolute, nor actually as a way to "compare" our pain. My 9 might be your 4 or vice versa - we're all different in how we react to pain.

To borrow from Den (okay, so I'm stooping down low), take what you need and leave the rest. Personally, I take 10++ comments with a grain of Imitrex.
KTSSU,
T
