Ergotamine rebound?

This is the first time in 20 years I have used medication for my CH's - from this website I took the list to my GP and got the oral ergotamine ("Ergodryl"). 1 to 2 tablets 3 times a day said the doctor! 10 tablets max a week said the chemist! I got it down to 1 tablet twice a day and kept the demon at bay or bearable. I think the cluster has passed and have stopped taking them - WHOA - headaches (not CH) that are making me physically ill. Is this a common reaction and if so, how long does it last?
