Verapamil and Frequent Bathroom Trips

Well, I was trying to put my message "delicately" in the subject line. I've been on Verapamil (160 mg at bedtime) for about 3 months, with great success, no side effects. Then suddenly, last week, I had an episode of extreme dizziness in bed. I'm quite sure this is the Verapamil, but am getting an MRI just in case.

Now for the stranger symptom. I've also noticed frequent urination during the night. (Well, I guess there's no other way to say it.) I looked in my drug book, and sure enough, it says Verapamil can cause this effect. It says to call your doctor immediately if you notice any change in pattern of urination. When I called my neurologist, he just referred me to my primary care doctor. When I say "frequent"--on a bad night, like last night, I was up literally every 5-10 minutes throughout most of the night. Needless to say, I'm a zombie today at work.

Has anyone else had this symptom? I've never seen it discussed on this message board. If so, what do you do? I'm thinking of taking the Verapamil right after dinner, rather than just before bed. Since my clusters are almost 100% during the night, I want to take the Verapamil as close to bedtime as possible.

Since my neurologist didn't seem to connect the Verapamil with this symptom, maybe it's a very unusual symptom. Leave it to me. No problem at all with constipation, which seems to be quite common.

Thanks for your help.

Jackie
