Docs still have a hard time diagnosing cluster headaches as you will find out if you read some of material found on this site. For many of us, it has taken years and years of misdiagnosis before we found out what we have.
There is no way on this earth that you could have helped her with her physical pain. If this is bothering you, dismiss it.
We don't know if she had cluster headaches, but whatever it might have been, if the doctors couldn't help her, neither could you.
