Lithium treatment, friend or foe

I am 38 and have been getting CHs since I was about 24. During my cycles I get one headache everyday at about 09:00. As with all of you, some days are better than others. I have been headache free for about 7 years now after being treated with Indoral (proprananol) during my last episode. Unfortuntely, this time Indoral is not working. I am having a difficult time at work and using Imitrex nasal spray to get by.
The Neuro wants to start me on Lithium and I am hesitant to agree after reading so much about severe side effects. am I right to be concerned or am I being unreasonable?
