I've been a CH sufferer for almost ten years. In that time I've been prescribed various drugs and other treatments with little or no success. But last month I was given Vicodin for an unrelated injury, and for over three weeks I had no headaches (or even shadowing) at all. Now that I'm off the drug the headaches have returned full force.
There were definite side-effects of Vicodin that I did not like, such as greatly decreased sexual desire/performance. So I have two questions:
Why would taking Vicodin prevent cluster headaches?
Does a similar drug exist that doesn't have Vicodin's nasty impotence side-effect?
I plan on asking these questions of my doctor when I see him for the follow-up appointment, but would like to hear other opinions as well.
