You're wonderful to be concerned, but from what you've described, it doesn't sound like you really have to be that worried. In the first place, there's no such thing as a "cluster migraine." You either get clusters, or migraines (and a rare few of us get both, but at different times).
In the second place, if he really does get clusters, it would be unusually GOOD that he only needs help several times a month. Clusters hit 8-12 times a NIGHT for at least a month at a time. Your description sounds more to me like a migraine, and again, several times a month is not unusual at all for migraines to hit.
