You have a great attitude, Steve, but the number one task right now is to fight the beast, so try not to feel too bad about the children's disappointment. Mutual support, love, and consideration (often involving self-sacrifice) are what make families work. Although it seldom seems like this at the time, things often have a way of working out for the best. Who knows? Maybe your planned vacation wouldn't have been so great anyway. (Any number of unexpected things can happen to screw up the best of plans.) For now, just try to kick the beast's butt, then you guys can go somewhere and have the time of your lives. Hope this is a short cycle for you.
