That's Public Service Announcement in case you didn't get it.

This is not a comment about excessive threads or joking or touchy-feelie or any of those other controversial subjects. I'm pretty much with BobP, Paco and a raft of others who believe that anything ch related goes here and if you don't like a thread, you have the option not to read or respond to it.

I just wanted to point something out for those who may not realize/understand it. This message board isn't automatic. When the page you see the board on gets too long, it takes a long time to open. DJ then has to manually go into the site, do the equivilent of a complicated cut and paste operation and move the posts to an archive page. Then he has to set up a link to that page.

Not exactly the equivilent of "Sixteen Tons", but it is work. The frequency with which DJ has to perform this is solely and completely dependent upon the number of posts made in any given hour, day or week. Now, Deej has never complained and has always done a great job maintaining the site, even while deployed overseas. I wonder if we've done as good a job remembering the work he does for us, and trying to keep his load as light as possible?

I surely don't mean that anyone should ever hesitate to post anything they beleive will be helpful, or any questions that they need answered. That's exactly why DJ built this place, and he'd be hurt if we didn't use it that way. But perhaps we should stop and think for a moment before posting a flame (however justified it may be) or running a thread up to staggering numbers, or posting "check your email" kind of things.

Just some idle thoughts for you to consider, accept or reject as you see fit.
KTSSU,
T
