Here I go again.....
I am an episodic cluster sufferer. This demon has been
interrupting my life for 25 years. My last cycle occurred
in 1999 and lasted 16 months. Verap and oxygen
are the weapons of choice for me. My insurance coverage has
covered this in the past. Until now.........
I am two weeks into a new cycle and my doctor has prescribed
Verap and oxygen to help me control my pain. Cigna has
approved my Verap......However my oxygen has been DENIED!!!
I received my denial letter from Cigna today after returning
from a trip to the emergency room. The beast was telling
me to end it all and I just had to fight for my life.
Of course, the emergency room gave me oxygen and an Imetrix
injection.....My aftercare advise from the attending emergency
room physician was to raise a little hell to get my oxygen.
The kicker.............
I turned in my oxygen tanks in May and now 3 months
later I need them. Cigna submitted my doctor's request
to return my oxygen to a board. The board denied it
saying it is not medically necessary for Clusters.
Appeal of the denial is a 20 business day appeal process.
Where is the justice in this?
NO JUSTICE................ NO PEACE FOR CIGNA
