What a GREAT site!!! First time poster, long time sufferer.
My clusters started when I was 22. They were episodic with unpredictable frequency until I stopped smoking at age 35 and they disappeared! I went nearly twelve years with only a very rare and mild CH. But now the beast is back with a vengance. I don't know what happened but its kicking the hell out of me.
The Imitrex injection works great for me. The problem is the F---ing insurance company's prescription plan will only cover 1 refill per month, two injections. Unbelievable. Any suggestions for dealing with this?
When I have to gut it out, I sit upright in a dark room, place an ice pack on the back of my neck and meditate, concentrating on slowing my breathing and transcending the pain. Sounds hokey, I know, but it works for me sometimes.
