I been on Verapmil for over two years now. I can say that my clusters don't come everyday now but I don't miss a week, unless I under go surgery, not a good trade off. I can function better. I would think preventive would mean it would prevent a person from having clusters. I think they help but don't stop them at least in a chronic.
