It's certainly not something I'd give to babies or toddlers unless told by a doctor. My boys were 5 yrs. old before they had childrens' gravol, and it was to combat car sickness on a long road trip. Why is she giving it to her 1 year old? I hope she will consult a doctor or pharmacist on this.
