Ummmm....Got my O2....

Okay guys, anyone who thinks that welders O2 is not pure or has any other problems, I suggest you rethink it hehe.  My O2 was delivered today, and it's in a stamped welders tank, but was delivered by medical supply company.   Shocked

One problem, I've heard lots of talk of everyone having E tanks and B tanks, where does a 4 ft tall 100lb tank fit in??  The thing is HUGE.  I imagine I have enough O2 to last a couple of months.  Is this a good thing or should I try to get a smaller tank?

Anyway, just thought I'd get some quick input from you guys, the all knowing all loving all wonderful folks on this board Smiley

Whooo hooooo Cat!!!

They deliver our oxygen for anesthesia for the animals from the welding supply TRUCK!

I think your tank is called an H tank...that's what my huge ones were called.  If you don't want it mobile, stick with that size, as long as they are good and quick when you need a change.

My little tank now is called an E tank, it's about 3 foot and smaller around then the H tank.  I take that to welding shop for a refill.

What kind of mask did you get?  Is it the right one?
Good luck!!
Come back to chat soon, we miss you.

Kewl, I'll stick with my big one then (waiting for comments from slammy on that one Tongue)

They didn't give me a non rebreather, but I have 2 from the Doc.  They come out this way every Monday to refill and all I have to do is give them at least 24 hours notice for a refill so things are lookin good!

Should be back on more full time after this weekend, the family is leaving tomorrow morning Smiley

Silly Cat,
It's not the size of your tank but the quality of "air" in it. Heheheh  Sorry slammy wasn't on yet and hearing you talk like that got me all excited.

I am glad though that you were able to overcome the stupidity of the militaryhealth care system and get the O2.  This will help you a lot.

You didn't mention the regulator. You need one that will deliver a flow rate of 8 - 12 lpm. Mine delivers 15, and I have cranked it up to the limit when I woke with a Kip 8 - 10. The trick is to saturate the lungs as quickly as possible, and keep them saturated by using a flow rate that keeps the bag full as fast as you can breathe it in. Stay on the mask for at least five minutes after the pain subsides.

Paco,

I just today checked out the regulator as the kip monster has decided that a 3 day break was enough.

Unfortunately it only goes to 6lpm and I know that's enough.  The one doc told me 15 lpm as well, and I've always read on here min. of 8-12 lpm.  I don't know how hard it is to change a regulator, Clark is going to call the company on monday and see if we can get another one, if we can't how hard is it to get a regulator?  Jonny, I'm sure this one is up your alley! hehe.

Unfortunately at 6lpm it wasn't enough to abort the beast so I've done some dancing with it instead.  At least the family is gone now and things are calmer around the house.

I assume your insurance is paying for your O2? If the supply company balks, get a prescription from your doc specifying the 15 lpm regulator. If all else fails, Charlie may be able to do a deal on Ebay. You might also check into rental prices from your supplier.

Kewl thanks paco, when I reread my post I realized I'd put 6lpm was enough when I meant to say it was not enough hehe.  Silly me.  Yes the military HMO Tricare/Sierra Military Health services, or as we like to call it, try and get care, is paying for the 02.  I'll talk to the doc and tell her that it needs to be min. 8-12 lpm and if she can't get them to change it then I'll get the neuro to hound them after I see him on the 30th of the month.  We are trying to get everything set up and working right so I KNOW it will work while Clark is deployed for the next 5 months...clusters as a single parent are not fun and I salute each and everyone of you who manages to do it!

Thanks again for the info Paco.  I'll also check the pilot supply companies to see if we can get a regulator through there if we can't get one from the home care place.

You guys are the best.
