Definitely Not CH. Saw The Reagan Movie

It was on Showtime. Three hours of really bad movie.

Most of the history was fairly acceptable but they played him as a doddering stumblebum in the 1950s and 60s.  By far he wasn't a shining example of enlightenment. He was anything but. I remember the poor dope back then and especially how tough and mostly nasty he was as governor. He was alert, unforgiving and always knew what he was doing.

He was a good speech writer though if you liked the particular buttons he pushed.  Their portrayal of him no doubt applied to his last year in office but not before.

Don't get me wrong. I never liked him and I blame Reagan worship for getting us stuff like Dubya and his crowd. Bush makes me long for Reagan. At least he had a few friends who knew something of having to make ends meet. Still, that doesn't make the movie any good.

Too bad CBS buckled under but it really is a stinker.

Sorry for this but I needed more political fix

So it was a really, really bad movie but they should have shown it anyway? Maybe they simply decided that crap is crap regardless of who tries to sell it. Gee, what a novel idea!

I could only stomach about 1/2 hour before I decided the production quality, acting, story and just about everything about it that I saw was crap.

I suspect they knew this and the political pressure gave them an excuse to pull it with the added bonus that they could get all the liberals up in arms about how the Right controls the media now.  Yeah right.

Shawn,

I fully believe that you are on target......with one caveat - you only get manipulated if you allow it to happen.  Some of us saw it coming a mile away, others chose not to - regardless of how obvious the ploy.

Everyone is right but some of the worst movies ever are on network tv. There were three movies on the Long Island Fisher shooting, I think. People would have watched anyway and bought Zoloft and SUVs.

Maybe they didn't get sponsors though. Nothing artistically lost anyway.

Would have watched it - but I only have HBO and Skinamax.  Tom - a Reagan groupie(sorta).
