Don't think so Mac, Groupers preferr rock structers and kelp beds. If he was a grouper here he would be for all intents and purposes kelpless. Wait there might be some merit in that. TTFN

You have to be kidding me. Let's see...I am just going to hit the high points here... I am allergic to chocolate, so that one I avoid. I know ladies it is a curse. Cucumbers too, so pickles are out. Sauerkraut is just nasty. Coffee and cigs, well just try to take them away from me. I did quit both for five months and saw no difference. So I started back. Avoid stress, hmmm...you try raising three teenage boys and avoid stress. If you can figure out how to do that, you let me know what the secret is, ok? MSGs and alcohol, don't do those either. SO it sounds like your list might not be the answer, if it was I would be getting at least some kind of freaking relief, now wouldn't I? But I don't, not without my O2 and my meds. By the way I am chronic and can be cranky. Get a grip man and give it a rest as you are causing us STRESS!

Bean, Your list shows a great way to eliminate Migraines, which i get too, but will do nothing but make Clusters worse, except for alcohol for some. My Migraine triggers are. 1. bright sunlight 2. cold 3. MSG 4. Nitrates 5. Smoking too much 6. drinking too much coffee 5. Kerosene My migraine abortive are. 1. relaxation 2. laying flat and sleeping 3. over the counter pain meds My CH triggers (things that cause a CH at the wrong time) 1. heat 2. relaxation 3. sleep ( especially lying flat ) My CH Abortives 1. Imitrex 2. Cold 3. smoking 4. coffee ( other caffeine sources don't work ) 5. stress As you can see the triggers for migraines are some of the same abortives for CH and vise versa. Living with CH and Migraines is a constant balance. Imitrex has no effect on my migraines and can trigger a bad migraine for me. I sometimes can start a migraine during a CH with the abortives for CH because for me imitrex does not work alone. My last 10 CH was triggered by watching my favorite TV show while my wife slept, this was too relaxing because I did not have the stress of watching the program while listening to my wife. Many here have tried eliminating many things from their diet, some even had their teeth removed to get rid of the pain with no lasting results. I do have one question, how do you function without caffeine when you only get 3 hours of sleep a night? Opus/Paul

I hate cigarettes with a passion. I don't eat aged cheese, soy sauce or saurkraut. I avoid MSG as much as I can for no real reason. Don't often eat pickles. I eat as much chocolate as I can! Love Tequila! And drink alot of Coke. (notice I didn't say snort) I am episodic. Every 2 years. Diet doesn't matter. When in cycle, like everyone else, I avoid things that I think might be triggers. So I really think that food isn't the BIG answer. I think the REAL answer is NOT ENOUGH SEX!!!!!!!!!! Those chronics are REALLY lacking! And us episodics are NEEDIN' MORE!!! Yes, fellow clusterheads, we need more of the BIG "O"! No, wait.....if that were the case, there would be a hell of alot more CH'ers, and I am pretty sure the "BEAN" ain't gettin' nun! So, maybe, we are gettin' TOO MUCH SEX!!!! The chronics are oversexed maniacs! And us episodics should try to avoid sex as much as possible! All you chronics, you need to cut it down to twice a week, and wean yourself off completely! For the love of our heads people, I urge you to TRY! This is the answer! Believe me. NO MORE SEX!! Please send $59.99 to the address below, and I will send you your very own instructional booklet "How to avoid CH causing sex". Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. Also indicate if you are male or female, and I will include a free gift! A vice grip for you men, (also indicate S, M, L, or OMG), and for the ladies, your gift will be a clitoral piercing kit with sterling ring included. Once you use this kit, NO ONE will ever be able to bring you to orgasm EVER AGAIN! Yes folks, you can rid yourself of clusters forever. Proceeds from the sale of this booklet will benefit the "Kick the Bean" fund. address: NO MORE CLUSTERS 69 Nosex Circle Ucum City, North Closeyourgina 02469-6969 (no refunds on open items with spooge spots)

Everyone sorry to have to say this again Mg. Bean you might have a little something here check out the post i made a month or so ago on Magnesium and do your own research on Mg deficiency. The foods you mentioned are very salty, this would compound a Md Diff, and large amounts of Calcium can cause the same problems. i have had 2 CHs since taking Mg and that is when i stopped taking it. i know we are all different but this has worked for me and i have no financial interest in this. i wish it would work for everyone but know it probbably wont. just wanted to put my 2 cents in. i feel great and hope the rest of you can find relief also i am writing a note to my Neuro and when i have it done i will post it here with all the details but many of them are on the posts i did earlier. whoever said that the timeing of the CHs precludes any food alergy vitimin mineral defficiency. that is a good point and i dont completely understand it either. could be a build up or could be something cyclical in the environment that exaserbates a difficency. vitimin D is made in our bodies when we are exposed to sunlight for example. i am not saying vitimin D has anything to do with this but it is just an example of an environmental factor that effects levels of stuff in our bodies. first i would like to say to everyone...OMG you guys make me laugh so much and always RIGHT when i need it!!! Thanks!!! bean, i read your post on achenet before i read your post here...immediately when i read that, i thought...MIGRAINE. i have had migraines since i was 8 years old. food triggers are known to be a large component for many migraine sufferers, but not all. however, food is not known to be a trigger for ch. personally for me, i know that red wine and grape juice cause me to get very bad migraines, but i'm on an MAOI and that causes me to have to cut out all foods and meds containing tyramine, and it hasn't done a damn thing for my headaches!!! that includes all cheese, beer (especially tap beer or nondomestic bottled and canned beers - they contain the most tyramine), aged meats like salami, pepperoni and sausage, red wines, etc. I also can't have any cold meds, antidepressants, stimulants (such as ADD meds), or any other meds that interact with MAOIs (watch the commercials...this medication cannot be taken with an MAOI...dang...is there anything we CAN take??) So none of it has improved my headaches. Just goes to show it doesn't work for everyone. I'm glad it worked for you, and I still think that your posts sound more like migraine than ch. See a headache specialist! ~Lizzie

you wont hurt my feelings. i was just looking to help myself. did some research and tried Mg it worked for me. i have no interest whatsoever if anyone else here tries this or not. i felt i had a moral obligation to share this information with you all. even tho i knew it would be poo pooed by most of you. that is fine and i dont mind the poo poo. without causeing an uproar the drugs we take alter our bodies yes? so do the vitimins and minerals we take yes? all i know is this helped me if it helps someone else figure this out fine if not fine. i am well now and happy about that.

OMG Deb, I'm laughing my ass off, but probably not for the same reason as most of you. When I am in cycle, and while I was chronic for almost 3 years (THANK GOD THAT'S OVER> THANK YOU GOD!) the big 'O' was a sure fire way to get an attack rolling, usually going from Kip0 (actually, Kip-minus 10 if you think about it) to Kip8-10 in an instant. So, you may be on to something. -Fu

| 12ga, You aren't the first and won't be the last cluster sufferer to get relief with Magnesium. It'd been shown to work for both clusters and migraines. [for some clusters and migraines] Not only increasing your daily intake but some have gone to magnesium infusion to break cycles and intractable migraines. I assume you've seen the studies that back this up. But, to show why it may work for some and not others.... "Patients who responded and had no return of their headaches or associated symptoms within 24 hours of IV MgSO4 infusion were those with the lowest baseline levels of ionized Mg++, and patients with cluster headaches had the lowest basal ionized Mg++ levels of all. Nonresponders had significantly elevated total Mg levels compared to responders." If you hadn't seen this, search out "Mauskop" or write to me. PF Sorry if this is a repeat of prior inform. posted
