| M$ threatened to stop support but they continued when they realized that many admins won't upgrade becouse M$ hasn't made anything better. Don, stick with 98, you just may need a clean reinstall. Opus/Paul

But 98 sux bro, it was not until Windows 2000 that they moved the home computer edition of Windows to the posix kernel of NT. I am no big MS fan, but Win XP plug and play finds every device I have ever thrown at it, including motion tracking devices, directional trackers, and multiple DOF input devices, not your everyday off-the-shelf hardware.

John, to each his own, After spending a few weeks in XP I actually came close to throwing the laptop, at least in 98 I could understand what was going on, and could make it very stable. XP just seems to always fight me. I guess I will stick to Linux where things are simpler, if it doesn't work try something else, not reinstall drivers 3 times and poof it works for no reason. I forgot, I finally was able to shrink the partition, install SUSE, and now I know the hardware is good, HP says after two weeks XP needs a clean install. For me I have far less problems with the Linux seeing hardware, than XP, even Win Modems are a snap in Linux, XP has good wifi drivers, but only after you force XP to keep it's nose out of control of the device. Don, I have a brand new never been used win98 disc that I will never use. You want it? Send me your address, it's yours. But, take Opus up on the Xandros, you'll like it.

The caveman has some diskies on the way. But we should be able to straighten him out before then. Been some time since most of us have used 98. Let's laugh at him anyway.

Both Ethernet and USB are faster than a DSL or Cable connection. Niether is as fast as my 23.5 Ghz microwave connection. TTFN
