Oxygen rental in London

I haven't posted in months. I have researched this and can't find an answer but I bet someone here will help. You always have in the past. I am traveling to London for seven days and I am trying to get information about renting an oxygen tank when I get there to "help me make it through the night." I hope someone here can help.

I don't know if its possible to rent O2 or not.. try the OUCH UK website, they might be able to help you there.

Hello Helen. So nice of you to respond. I will check the OUCH UK website and see what they have to say. I am in charge of 80 highschool choir students and we are going to England on March 5th. We actually don't arrive in London until the 7th. We are spending our first two nights in Coventry. This is my first trip to England, very excited. Right now I am out of cycle and have not had to use the oxygen for a couple of months but just in case I was wondering if it was available. I will let you know what I find out. tannero

Hi there
I'm pretty sure you can't "rent" 02 in the UK as our healthcare system doesn't work like that.
The best advice I can think of would be to get a contact name and number for a local GP and arrange the 02 in advance and explain the situation as you can visit GPs as a temporary visitor here. I expect they would want a prescription sent in advance too unless they are clued up already about 02 usage (many Gps here still aren't but we're working on it!)
You will also need to print off the 02 information on the link on the OUCH UK visitors site as the standard NHS 02 tanks do not have the righ flow rate regulator on them (they will from October which will make our lives easier) so you will need to get the BOC CD cylinder with the built in high flow rate regulator (it is portable so you will need several) Getting the regulator for the larger tanks is likely to be VERY difficult , if not impossible as a visitor as they cost over £150.
