The duration varies, from sufferer to sufferer. I'm not a good "average" for sure, but I can say I've had episodes as short as 1 week and as long as 5 years and 3 months (chronic).  Undecided

Before turning chronic ( March will be 2 yrs), I never had a cycle last longer than 1 month two times per yr.

I was diagnosed with CH in 1997.  Last cycle I had was about 2 years ago.  I don't remember the previous ones lasting this long.  I am also under a lot of stress right now, which I know doesn't help.

26 plus years, 8 to 12 weeks each cycle, twice a year. I ocasionally skip a cycle but have never had a short or a long cycle! Good luck.

It seems like in the past couple of years my cycles have become farther apart, but they last longer. Last cycle was 3 months long and ended about 6 months ago.

Seems that my average cycle has lasted about 6months with maybe a 3-6 month layoff between.  As I have gotten older, they seem to have not come as often( Idid get a year and a half break last time).  The big difference I have noticed is that in this current cycle I am getting more hits per day.  Hoping that maybe the duration of the cycle is not quite as long this time.
Hope you find some relief.  Stay strong and keep fighting this beast.  Much luv and PF wishes.

For the first 20 years I'd get hit 4-6 weeks every 8-9 months.

At age 40 the remissions got longer (2 years) and after each subsequent cycle even longer (last one was over 3 years) but the cycles also got longer.  Last cycle was 20 weeks.

Hi, RC.

My episodes are becoming longer and longer with the passing of each year.

The last one, I thought I became chronic, as it lasted more than 15 months.

CH is not predictable, so don't worry too much, it won't help in any case.

Hang in there.
