I copied your theory and the refs:
and started to add a couple of links.
(If you want me do delete the "mirror", please let me know.)
An advantage of the MediaWiki Software is that everybody can edit the text now. Just click on the "[bearbeiten]" (=edit) button at the right side of the screen on the chapters with the references and the text will  be open for editing. (The CK-Wissen website is in German language).
If you have a Pubmed ID for the abstract, all you have to add is the "PMID 123456" and the MediaWiki software will generate the link automatically.
The syntax for other weblinks is:  
[] gives [1]
[ Mediawiki] gives "Mediawiki"
If you want to do some testing before you start editing the page linked to above, please use this page:
When you have done your edits, click the buttons at the bottom of the page:
"Vorschau zeigen" = Preview
"Artikel speicherm" = Save
