Blood Clot

I just had a surprise visit to the Dr yesterday where I had a blood clot removed the size of a Cheeto.
This last cycle I ran the verapamil pretty hard.
Anyone thing this could have caused the situation?
If not does any one think it could have make the situation worse if it did not cause it?
Seem likely to me with the lowering of blood pressure and all........

Don't know if verap can contribute to blood clots...am going to research now. Meanwhile, glad they got it out
and hope ya feel better.

Something you might look at if you've a mind to is whether or not you are heterozygous or homozygous for the genetic condition, Factor V Leiden. My youngest brother and I are both hetereozygous for the allele, and my middle brother is negative. It's a variant that's present in about 5 percent of the population.
Factor V Leiden causes the blood to clot more rapidly than normal, leading sometimes to deep vein thrombosis when other risk factors for DVT are not present. Reason we were all tested for it is that my youngest brother had a large clot in his spine a few years ago that resulted in an instantaneous paralysis of his lower extremities. One moment standing, the next--boom, he was down. He recovered, but the rehab took months. He now takes Cumiden (spelling?) daily.
The genetic test costs about a hundred bucks, but it's well worth knowing whether you carry the risk factor.
Can't say whether verapamil increases the risk of clotting.

I know of one person that has both CH and antiphospholipid syndrome, which causes clotting. There are probably lots of other reasons that a clot could form.

okay this may be a dumb question- how did you know you had a blood clot? did you have any symptoms etc? also- how do they remove a clot? no experience here with clots-
I am interested if anyone finds a connection between verap and clots-
