Since it takes around 10 days for verapamil to become effective, if you start it when you get your first CH of a new cycle you'll have quite a few days with no effective preventive. So using a prednisione taper to cover this time period can have quite a good benefit. However do work with your doctor on this.

Also make sure you've preventives lined up so supplies of oxygen, imitrex, energy drinks and whatever else you have. The last thing you want to be doing is trying to arrange things urgently when you've actively got CHs.

Do make the most of your pain free time, live life to the full and enjoy it.

Agree with Mike and would add--get into the habit of taking notes, while with the doc, about directions, etc. When dealing with new kinds of information, and under the pressure of time, our memory falters.

The act of writing will often trigger questions which are related, e.g., dosing, frequency, etc.

But no reason for not calling the doc's office and leaving your questions with his assistant/nurse. This is the kind of simple, direct info which does not require speaking to him.

Hi Zazzed, check out the d3 regimen on the link below, it works for 80% of people. I was in the middle of a bad cycle when i started the regimen and within 3 weeks i became pain free. my spring cycle usually lasts up to 3 months, however with the d3 regimen it stopped after 1 month and i am still pain free. Get on the regimen and you might never experience pain from CH again.
