Unfortunately, things do change from time to time.
The up side is that sometimes they change for the better.
My cycle frequency went from 6 moths to 12 and now is right at 15 months.
As for friends and family, that is a really tough one.
It frustrates the hell out of my Wife when I get a hit.
She tries to help and I'm in so much pain that all I want her to do is go away.
(Just having someone try to talk to me during a hit is irritating.)
I have trouble telling her nicely, or speaking at all during a hit.
Anymore, I go to the most remote part of the house that I can and just pace / clutch the door frame until the tide subsides.
She has since not taken my snappy responses personally and knows to keep everyone away from me.
"The Letter" and open discussions with friends and family regarding CH is very helpful.
It removes any mystery around what you are going through and doing during a hit.
Even more important, it allows you to not be self conscious about what other think of you.
The last thing you need to be worried about during a hit is what does "so and so" think.

During my first CH cycle, prior to being diagnosed, I was told that I was having sinus headaches from allergies.
We had some guests over for dinner and I started to get a hit while we were all sitting at the kitchen table.
I foolishly thought that I could sit there and tough it out.
The pain got so bad that in the middle of someone else's conversation,
I slammed my fist on the kitchen table and stormed off into the bedroom.
Not cool...
I had no idea what was happening to me and I can't imagine what our guests thought.
Hopefully you have access to a good abortive like O2 or Sumatriptan injections.
If so, do not wait to use them.
At the first sign of pressure behind me eye, I stab myself with an auto injector.
You are not alone and you have found a place where we know exactly what you are going through.
Hang in there, experiment with treatments / doctors until you find what works for you.
It appears that the pharmaceutical community is starting to pay attention to us and are working towards more effective treatment options.
Cheers,
Phil
