eye eye wrote, hi iam only interested in finding the triggers.the in's and out's dont interest me.if i can stop the bout begining than the cause doesnt matter one bit

I think you are contradicting yourself here according to your first post. You wrote, Birch and Mould trigger your CH's so you answered your own  Questioning. I wrote earlier in the piece on this thread, Pollen and mould are known triggers for some folk, but not the cause of CH's.

Eye Eye,

Good point on dust mites... I've listed dust mites as a source of allergic reactions in several posts.

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Reactions appear to vary with the level of infestation and individual sensitivity.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

thank you batch.youre right as always infestation and sensitivity play a part.plus ive read that their excrement contains very powerful proteins.ive been on your d3 plan for over a week and just like you said the bouts are shorter lasting and only 2 aday.but yesterday i had a k10 while out at about 5.30pm just as the sky darkened and the airboune spores came down to ground level.could have taken my own life while in the throws of the k10 lasted about 35mins.the only 2 things i done yesterday that was different from the last week was going outside the house and drinking aspartame candarela 2 teaspoons in a cup of tea.

Hey Eye Eye,

I've been a chronic CHer since 2004 and I've remained pain free on the anti-inflammatory regimen at a maintenance dose of 10,000 IU/day since I developed it in October of 2010... unless there's a major pollen fall.

Last March, I came home from travel to find the Alder trees around our house had cut loose with a pollen fall that made it look like a dust storm.  My black pickup looked like it had a bag of Portland cement dumped on it.

Within minutes I started having obvious symptoms of an allergic reaction.  The resulting histamine insult triggered a return of the beast a few hours later and it proceeded to jump ugly on me with round the clock attacks every two hours.

My usual suggested solution of 50,000 IU/day loading doses of vitamin D3 proved fruitless until the clue bird made a low pass and my good idea light came on bright and flashing...

Treat The Allergy!

After a little research on the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis and the flood of histamine it triggers, I selected Benadryl (Diphenhydramine), a first generation antihistamine that passes through the blood brain barrier to block histamine H1 receptors on neurons throughout the brain.

It worked.  Within a couple hours, the allergy symptoms started to subside and the frequency and severity of the CH started dropping.  Within 24 hours, I was again CH pain free.

I've since added a one-week course of Benedryl (Diphenhydramine) or other first-generation antihistamines at 25 mg every 12 hours if CHers are getting hit and an allergic reaction is suspect.  That suggestion also carries a warning not to drive as Benadryl will make people drowsy. If you do need to drive, take the Benadryl once you're home for the night.

Take care and please keep us posted.

V/R, Batch

I totally agree about Batch being wonderful and a whole lot more, but the neuro / headache specialist is essential in getting someone diagnosed correctly. It is then that the CH community can help with our years of experience of CH.

Lots of us here are fans of D3 which has kept many of us CH pain free for multiple years (I've just gone over 4 years CH pain free).

Eye Eye,

Thank you for the kind words...  and I know the wonderful feeling when you take something that prevents your CH.

That said, Mike is correct, I'm not a physician or an nutritionist.  I don't diagnose and I don't treat CH'ers... None of us here at CH.com do that.

I provide data on effective methods of CH intervention for information purposes only.

Once a CHer has a confirmed diagnosis of CH and hopefully ready to see his or her PCP for the 25(OH)D lab test and discuss the anti-inflammatory regimen, I'm all ears and ready to explain what I've been doing to prevent my chronic CH for the last 5 years.

Bottom line... see your PCP or neurologist and keep them in the loop with what you're doing... This accomplishes two things... It helps spread the word on the effectiveness of this regimen among physicians... and it keeps me out of the clink.

Take care,

V/R, Batch
