I have drilling for cavities done without novacaine and I have done so for many years. Am I a complete imbecile? Maybe. I have a high tolerance for pain and I just don't like to leave the dentist with all that swelling. Clusters - I have no idea what people are talking about when they say the pain is a 3 or a 4 or a 5 or an 8 or a 10. Every cluster is a 10 for me. It is either prevented or aborted. If it is not aborted it is a 10. The only variation might be in the duration. Is it 2 hours or 3 hours or 4 hours?
I suspect that the variation in pain level that people speak about may be the result of a preventative medication working to some level.
My experience has always been that if it is not prevented or aborted that it is a 10.
