the "other" CH site (with the profile surveys)
shows the distribution of personality types (per Kiersey test) to be almost exactly the same for CH folks & general population

I believe there is a lot of lingering "moralist" thinking attached to ailments such as CH which insists on attaching to any ailment, that can't be seen as a distinct physical defect

that is - if it doesn't break, bleed or swell up, it's all in your head - and that's the sign of a weak person of doubtful moral character - more common than we'd like to think in 1998 - but then, who'd a believed Newt Gingrich in Congress ?

realize it's not so long ago that people wouldn't even use the words diabetes or cancer - because the old line was that they were a punishment of God for some karmic sin

remember - juggling poisonous snakes-handling is still considered sane & holy religious practice by a frighteningly large # of folks right here in the US of A (do a web search on "snake-handling" )

what's this got to do with CH ?
EVERYTHING - it's the basis of behavior of the legion of doc's, HMO's etc who tell us to take 2 aspirin, a nap & growup - - they are part arrogant but also very much trapped in the lingering effects of earlier mainline cultural belief

so screw the bastards -
with DJ's site here, and a few others, it won't be long before we can put the knownothings in their place, finally - hang in there !!!!!!!

arachnaphobia ? wow - better not come visit - we live in the woods & we don't have to bother with curtains - if you get my drift
