Amerge anyone?

Has anyone had the success that I've had with Amerge? I've had CH's for about 8 years and have tried just about everything. Imitrex worked for awhile and then it's effectiveness really declined.

Then my neurologist gave me a few samples of Amerge. He said it was "long-acting Imitrex" and was manufactured by Glaxo, the same pharmaceutical company. I gave it a shot and although it made me nauseous the first couple of times, it worked like a charm.

That was about 1 1/2 years ago and I am still using it effectively. It has even aborted my last few cycles. After I get the first CH of a cycle (of course I have to get through that one with O2) I take a pill before I go to bed. Repeat this for 3-4 more nights and the past 2 times that was enough. The cycle was gone. I've only had to refill my O2 tank once since I started using Amerge.

The only downside is the fight I've had to go through with my insurance company, Aetna. Amerge is very expensive, $158 for 9 pills. I wish the person who is declining my coverage could just experience one of these damn headaches. They've been such a pain-in-the-ass, they've brought on a few headaches themselves, not clusters thank god.

Anyway, just thought I would share that success with everyone. I only hope and pray that this continues to work.

Dan
