... but FIVE GRAMS DRY? Holy wow, batman! You weren't taking any chances of underdosing, were you?
How dry were they? Did they snap apart like crackers? Were they easy to crumble to dust? Or were they just shrivelled up and leathery?
From the description you gave of your experience, my guess is:
a) they were not COMPLETELY dry, and had enough water content remaining to throw off the normal dosage recommendations.
b) they were much less potent than usual.
c) you have an exceptionally high tolerance to psilocybin.
d) a combination of the above.
What species were they? Cubensis or Semilanceata (Liberty Cap)? If they were cubensis, what strain were they? Were they cultivated or collected from the wild? How old were they? Did you dice them into small pieces and glom them down in a blob of honey or something or just gulp them down whole? Were they taken on an empty stomach?
Sorry to ask so many questions, but normally a dose of five grams of completely dried psilocybe cubensis will produce a PROFOUND experience most commonly described as "mystical" or "otherworldly". Even seasoned recreational users rarely exceed five grams... most of them are quite content with three to three and a half grams.
I'm glad to hear you didn't find the experience disconcerting, but I must caution others who want to try this therapy to start off at a much lower level... about a gram or a gram-and-a-half of completely dried mushrooms.
By all means keep us updated on your progress!
