The clinical definition of the chronic form of CH is when the sufferer does not have a pain free period of at least 14 days in a 12 month span of time, without the assistance of meds.

Based on what she said, Janet's hubby was chronic for 6 years, when he went into remission. Since his current "cycle" is only approximately one month old, he's currently episodic. This, of course, assumes that he truly has CH.

I must say that I've never heard of anyone having what sounds like a single, 6 year long chronic bout followed by 7 years of remission.

I agree that it's important that he be seen and diagnosed by an doc knowledgeable about headaches in general and CH in particular.
