Goadsby's research shows activation in the hypothalamic region before any pain is felt. Other studies show the pain is felt before the blood vessels dialate (at least before the blood vessels they were monitoring dialate). This leads to some sort of hypothalamic/trigeminal nerve connection. This is where I get lost too which is why I wish Paco knew what he was talking about.
