Verapamil

My doctor put me on 460mg Verapamil today but it was my suggestion. How long does this stuff take to work (if it works)? I've only taken it with prednisone and it stopped my clusters in a day. Also, I'm getting 2-3 attacks a day and taking Imitrex injections every time (so far they work like a dream) but I'm starting to wonder if my body is craving the Imitrex and that all these injections, besides bankrupting me are causing the headaches. Any thoughts?
