Here is a strange one from the Cayman Islands. Note that the green palm leaves are white and the blue sky is black but the white clouds remain white. I used Konica 720Nm IR film with a red 25A filter and developed the negatives and prints myself. The lighthouse print is so sharp you can actually see the cracks of the bricks in the 8"x10" print. Also note that the picture of the lighthouse was taken before they moved it.

Since everyone is putting in bird pictures, here are a couple I took over the last week or so.

Mama and baby ducks at the local park.

This little fellow fell out of a nearby nest and hopped up on our porch and sat down next to me.  Not sure what kind he is but he sure was cute!

Mel,
Got mine today.  Found mine on Amazon (there's also 1 step up and that's the one I got, will hold dsl and zoom  lens).  Now all I have to do is go take some pictures!

Hi Tom,

I recall that you and Kirk are both ex-Coastie and there may others here too.

I’ve been really fortunate to make friends with surfmen all over D11 and D13. The instructors at the NMLB School at Cape D are super.

As a civilian photographer, I’m not allowed to go underway during SAR and training missions so all of my images were officially shot from shore  Wink. (Those Mustang survival suits are really uncomfortable......)

The 47's are really high tech but I'm a huge fan of the Intrepid class 52's - that's an MLB! I've spent some time aboard some WPB 87's but my heart is in the 44, 47 and 52 MLB's.

What was your duty?

My latest shots from the beach. (or maybe was it a helo?)  Wink

Wow Marc.. I could fill every room in my house with your pics. I am in awe..

I have among my proudest possesions, some photo's of VIgs and a painting of PattiK's. Those are the first things I'd save after the living things if my house was on fire. I absolutely love your sea and beach shots. I could sit and look at them for hours. Thank you so much for sharing them.

Thanks Shawn,

I recall that you are quite an accomplished photographer yourself.  I still remember the first time you posted that jellyfish shot years ago.

Yeah, Bob and I are waaay overdue for a dinner, but it's been my fault - not his.

I've sold this house and we are moving to Texas in June. (Driving the first truck load net week)

Marc you make me flinch from the screen expecting the spray to hit me. It's so real and the light on that water is just invigorating. I truly feel like this is a day at the beach! I'm a real "Sea" person, nothing makes me feel as alive as ocean's do. I can hear the boats creak, hear seagulls and waves crashing in my ears and I swear I can smell the salty air. This is as good as being there and I rarely feel like that from photo's. National Geographic does that to me too though I have to admit!

Along with Antelope Canyon those pics are somewhere I now long to go.

You've made my day. I could sit here all day surrounded by them and just feeling at peace. That's an incredible gift to give someone, Thank you

Helen,

Better enjoy those pics while you can... I'm having Marc picked up for violating the 'keep this place a secret' law.  We've kept it a secret this long, pictures like that could bring, you know, tourists.  ewwwww.  'Cept for you, of course.

Marc,

Watch yer back.  Texas will extradite to California (only because we have the death penalty).  Tongue  BTW, I'm no photographer... that jellyfish was a lucky shot.  You, my friend, are a photographer.  I just own a camera.

We should all hook up for a dinner or something before you leave town.  I'm moving to Boston eventually too.

Here's that jellyfish shot... it's actually a piece of art by Richard Satava.

and another one that includes a reflection of my son standing there looking amazed.  Taken at the Monterey Aquarium, this image is a crappy scan of a regular film shot I took, but you get the idea.

Your shot with your son's reflection is REAL photography - blows the doors off of pretty scenery. It's all about the emotion invoked by an image....
