480 mgs of Verapamil made me sick

OK gang.......I received permission from my doctor to increase my dosage of Verapamil to 480
mgs per day. The first two days it worked great - very mild or NO headaches at all. I didn’t even
have a constipation problem with it. However, by the third day, the medicine began to make me
ill. Last night, I had a swollen tongue, fatigue and disorientation, and a horrible taste in my
mouth. I was afraid I was overdosing on the medication. I’m going to cut back to 240mgs and
see what happens, because I don’t think my body handled the increase in dosage very well.
Additionally, I had a MISERABLE headache Saturday night that kept me up until 6am. I was so
out of it that I attempted to make a pot of coffee at around 4:30, and I did it wrong!!! Somehow
the coffee maker became possessed by demons and began shooting wet coffee grounds all over
our kitchen. Fortunately, Cathie got up with me and cleaned everything up, then proceeded to
make the coffee the “right” way!! The kids were spending the night at the neighbor’s, but my
“tried and true” cluster companion hung tough with me until the episode was over. God bless
her. Anyway, they’ve set up an MRI for June 1st. I don’t know why they keep bothering with
expensive tests - I’ve been taking them for years and they never show anything. I’m going to
create a new medical organization for my local family doctor and the hospital neurologists called
the “Klueless Kluster Klan.” They wear white lab coats and have an overwhelming desire to
inject contrast material into my veins. I wish they’d all do some research and come up with a
solution to my problem, but I’m not going to hold my breath. If someone would just host a
Cluster Convention in Augusta, Georgia that featured 18 holes a day, I’m sure they’d all come
back with the miracle cure I’ve been praying for through these many suffering years.
That’s all for now - sleep well everyone. --Vince
