I am 33 and have suffered from CH for over twenty years. I was accurately diagnosed about ten years ago and was prescribed Cafergot. Most of the time it was effective. However, during this cycle I was having breakthrough headaches and tried Imitrex tablets for the first time. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Today I had a headache that was worse than I have ever experienced. The Imitrex didn't even touch it. Not only was it the most severe that I have ever experienced, but it also did not follow the typical pattern. It lasted over three hours (instead of 60 to 90 minutes) and it left me with a significant "bruised brain" type feeling. I still have it ten hours later. Has anyone ever had this happen?

Does anyone take Imitrex nasal spray for daily episodic CH? My doctor says I cannot use it because it can only be used four times per month.

Verapamil isn't working for prevention. Any suggestions here would be appreciated. I am at my wits end. I am going back to my HMO doctor (who barely gives a shit) tomorrow. Please give me something to throw at him. (suggestions, that is. I would really rather throw a stapler at him so he can experience some pain.)

Thank you
