Coping?

My cluster started 8 Aug. It had been two years since
the last one. I have my O2 and I talked my doctor into
letting my try the lidocaine nasal drops to curb the
pain. My doctor also prescribed prednisone and lithium
again, because I guess I said they worked the last time.
I stopped taking them both last Monday, can't stand the
feeling they give me. The CH continues to break through,
usually between 10-11 p.m. or about an hour after I
fall asleep. The 02 and lidocaine had been helping---
until last night. After an hour or so of sleep I awoke
to excruciating pain. It was the worst one yet. The O2
didn't help, the lidocaine didn't help. I paced,
I moaned, I stood in a hot shower, then a cold shower.
That helped temporarily, and at least calmed me done
a bit. Three hours later it began to subside and I was
finally able to fall asleep on my heating pad. This
morning, I am wiped out and will have to call into work
to tell them I'll be late. Enough venting, I just had
to tell someone who understands. I keep telling myself
I can handle it, I'll get through it, but they just
keep coming. Twenty-eight years of CH and I still have
to cope?!

Thanks for listening. Nancy K
