contact Hospice. They are angels. They will provide the patient with whatever it takes to relieve pain. (Usually morphine) They will guide the family thru the experience of taking care of the dying person, both physically and emotionally.

My mom died 5 years ago this month and with their help, she died a "good death". They encouraged me and my sisters to just talk and talk about the good times, the fact that she was a good mom, to sing to her, to resolve any differances, to acknowledge that she could leave us without regret and that we would be alright even tho we would miss her terribly. She was only semi-conscious at this time. Before they(Hospice) came into the picture (the last week before she died) she was hanging on for no apparent reason. When we gave her "permission" to go, she left us peacefully.

I will be forever thankful for their help and counceling.

My only regret is that we didn't contact them sooner.
