but acts as a powerful sleeping med with me, 45 minutes after taking 50 mg, I am out like a light, bad part is dry mouth, I am one of those people that could eat like a horse and never put on a pound, but this drug caused me to gain 40 pounds around the gut, looked like I was pregrant, also a constant burning stomach, I skipped eating breakfast and lunch with a small supper and still was gaining, so I got off of it, my collestrol count shot from about 130 to well over 200 into the danger zone, my doc said it was something else, I said it was the Amitriptyline, got off of it, lost all that weight and my count dropped back to normal, it's a nerve deadener, my neuro told me it would take about 3-4 weeks to work, not with me, had an 8 size cluster, knocked it out in about 20 minutes first time I took it, then knock me out for 12 hours with badly needed sleep, would be great except for the side effects, I still take 10 mg now and then, best thing for me has been my O2 concentrator, don't have to worry about contaminated O2 tanks and have an endless supply of O2, you may want to ask your doc about that as well, nice to meet someone with similar problems.
