Sorry to keep asking but I've just started using the imitrex "tip"--follow up question:
My first time I pushed the needle straight in--causing some blood to spurt up into the vial. Don suggesting going in at an angle, which I tried last night, and it worked--no blood "backwash".
However, the vial I used last night (now half-full) was somehow blocked or jammed--when I pushed on the plunger with a q-tip it wouldn't move. Is that possibly from dried blood?
Bigger question--the whole point of this exercise is to use the remaining Imitrex later (for me a day later). How do I store the needle and vial to keep it sterile and prevent the jam I described?
I was hoping to hear from someone who uses this "trick" often, and what they do.
(Hopefully this won't be an issue much longer--next time I see my neuro I'll ask him to prescribe the separate Imitrex vial and teach me how to use disposible insulin needles. My results the last two attempts show me I do not need nearly 6 ml.)
Thanks for all your help.
