Chris,
There have been good results in numerous ways such as:  tea, plain, or dry mixed into somthing like chocolate.  We used the dry/mixed method.

miapet is currently offline wrapping up some work on a class.  I am updating this thread for her.

I have passed the 26 and 27 week mark being pain free.

Survivor, sorry your ch returned.  My first bout lasted 20 years.  Schrooms work.

hi,
I'm following your succes and happy for you.
also planning visit to Amsterdam, hopfully i can finf srooms (or somthing else..) as well.
I'm CH chronic for over 6 years, last year is hell, despite the daily 240 verapamil, and 200-400 valproate,
also capergot,  and cicles of prednisone.
 nothing helps.
O2 (sometimes)and imitrex inj can stop pain.
Question: why not to try the "chemical" at a low dose from "official shop", and bother with srooms?

Thanks

I'm baccccccccckkkkkkkkkk hehe

Thank you, D, for updating the thread while I was 'away' *g*

D has passed the 28th and 29th weeks of being pain free!!!!!

We did his maint. dose on 12/4.  Everything went well, the tightness in his neck, and the 'popping' sounds are gone . . . .and he's still loving life *smiles* . . .

This was our first Thanksgiving, and will be our first Christmas together w/out CH . . . I'm more thankful than I ever knew I could be!!!

Amos, I'm not sure what 'chemical' you mean, but I have a couple of guesses *g* . . .the deal is, we aren't in Amsterdam, so we can't go to an official 'shop' and try anything.

dantheman, thank you *smiles*

I'll try to keep up with this thread, we have a puter issue at home (I got it in my head that we didn't need the internet *L* go figure????, so now we have to decide what we're going to do *L*), but I'll be working on keeping things going *smiles*

Wishing everyone a p/f holiday season.

No, it's NOT a psychological problem.  It's a brain CHemistry, neurotransmitter problem.  Psilocybin/Psilocin acts with certain receptors and stops the pain.
It's NOT a psychological problem, thank you.
But it does cause some eventually!

It's extremely unlikely that the effect of hallucinogens on CH has anything to with its psychological effects since a dose that is unperceivable psychologically is often effective for the headaches.  Like Vig said, it is much more likely a serotonin effect.  These hallucinogens are serotonin agonists (they act like serotonin).  Cluster headaches are known to be linked to serotonin.

The brain of the CH sufferer is physically different to the brain of a regular person.  The CH brain has changes to it's hypothalamus.  This is very much a physiological condition.  It's just me that's the psycho.

Yes, some do.
I took Amitryptaline (Elavil) and it stopped an episode after a few weeks, but the side effects were too much.

I haven't tried others.

In my personal experience... no way.  No effect at all.  I've tried lots of anti-depressants and some of them gave me huge problems.
