While sparing you all the complete details of my odyssey of misery and travails over the past 2 weeks, I need to share at least the highlight.
In a phone conversation with her to request additional refills of Imitrex Statdose, as well as to approve insurance coverage for more than the single dose per month that they allow (which I need retroactive; I've already spent over $1000 of my own money), she stated that she would do neither. She said - are you ready?- "You've been taking this for 2 weeks and you are still getting the headaches, so they are obviously not working".
As I attempted to protest her statement and explain to her the nature of my headaches and the purpose and effectiveness of the Imitrex, I heard..."-click-".
I went afterward to the ER, where the doctor sympathetically gave me a prescription for 10 cartidges.
In the mean time I'm waiting to get in to a neurologist who will hopefully put the approval through. I am in the process of changing doctors, and will be filing complaints with my insurance company as well as the AMA. Perhaps a malpractice case is due as well.
I could go on, but I just needed to vent and share. Maybe I'll give updates as my misadventures continue.
